Kenyan farmers use bees and sesame to keep away marauding elephants

Farmers in Kenya face challenges with elephants raiding crops and sometimes causing harm. Richard Shika, a local farmer, has had close calls with these animals. The area is near Kenya’s largest national park, allowing elephants to roam freely. This leads to conflicts as elephants seek food. Conservationists from Save The Elephants have introduced solutions like beehives and sesame crops to deter elephants. Bees keep elephants away, and sesame plants repel them with their scent. These methods help farmers coexist with elephants and even earn income from honey.
