The Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar announced that Jammu & Kashmir will hold three-phase assembly elections with counting on October 4. The Union Territory has 90 constituencies. Administrative measures, such as officer transfers and a new police intelligence chief, have been put in place for election security. These will be the first assembly elections since Article 370’s abrogation.
