A look at this week’s IndyStar Super 25 power poll, which ranks the top-25 teams in the state regardless of class. Going into Week 7:
- Brownsburg (6-0): The Bulldogs are up to No. 22 this week in the High School Football American national rankings, by far the highest ranking for an Indiana team (Center Grove is No. 128). The rushing attack is averaging 209 yards per game going into this week’s game vs. Zionsville. Last week: 1.
- Center Grove (6-0): It has been a great series against Cathedral since the teams started playing in 2014. Eight of the 12 games have been decided by a touchdown or less. The teams meet on Friday at Center Grove. Last week: 2.
- New Palestine (6-0): Jacob Davis continued his strong play by going 11-for-12 for 185 yards with three touchdowns in New Pal’s 49-0 win over Greenfield-Central. Up next: vs. Shelbyville. Last week: 3.
- Carmel (5-1): The Greyhounds, after rolling to a 63-14 win over North Central, are averaging 46.3 points per game. Senior quarterback Anthony Coellner has 1,130 passing yards and 14 TDs, and 333 rushing yards and six TDs. Up next: at Ben Davis. Last week: 4.
- Crown Point (6-0): Sophomore running back Max Gurnic accounted for 140 yards and three touchdowns and the defense intercepted a school record seven passes in a 35-14 win over Valparaiso. Up next: vs. La Porte. Last week: 5.
- Westfield (4-2): After last week’s 63-yard touchdown reception in a 14-10 loss to Brownsburg, freshman Caiden Snow has 15 catches for 221 yards in five games. Up next: at Avon. Last week: 7.
- Fishers (4-2): The Tigers rolled to a 29-15 win over Avon as Gage Sturgill went 14-for-25 passing for 255 yards and three TDs. Sturgill has 12 touchdown passes and no interceptions through six games. Up next: vs. Franklin Central. Last week: 8.
- Lawrence North (5-1): The Wildcats had no trouble with Ben Davis, cruising to a 48-19 win behind a big game from sophomore Darian Prather (251 passing yards, three TDs; 165 rushing yards, one TD). The MIC title is on the line this week when Warren Central visits. Last week: 9.
- Cathedral (4-2): The Irish will bring a three-game winning streak into this week’s game at Center Grove after a 32-28 win over Trotwood-Madison (Ohio). Last week: 10.
- Warren Central (5-1): The Warriors had a fight on their hands last week in a 31-28 overtime victory over Pike. Junior running back Keyon Thomas continued to shine with 190 rushing yards and two TDs on 25 carries. Big game this week at Lawrence North. Last week: 11.
- Bishop Chatard (5-1): Danny Adams ran for 197 yards and four TDs in Chatard’s 56-14 win over Guerin Catholic. The Trojans play at Harrison (West Lafayette) this week, then travel to Tri-West next week. Last week: 12.
- Decatur Central (4-2): The Hawks have won four in a row after a 37-19 win over Plainfield on Friday. Decatur Central’s rushing attack is led by Braylon Morris (460 yards, eight TDs) and Kasmir Hicks (449 yards, seven TDs). Up next: at Greenwood. Last week: 15.
- Avon (3-3): The Orioles have lost three of four after a 29-15 loss to Fishers on Friday. Andre Warfield is up to 639 rushing yards and eight rushing TDs after another 100-yard game. Avon hosts Westfield this week. Last week: 14.
- Bloomington South (6-0): Duncan Combs has 1,028 passing yards and nine passing TDs on the season for the Panthers. Huge game this week at Columbus North. Last week: 17.
- East Central (5-1): The Trojans, coming off a 66-6 win over South Dearborn, will play Connersville and Greensburg the next two weeks before finishing the regular season at Roncalli. Last week: 18.
- Merrillville (4-2): The Pirates have won three in a row after a 38-0 win over La Porte. Big test this week at Valparaiso, which is better than its 1-5 record shows. Last week: 19.
- Penn (6-0): The Kingsmen stayed undefeated with a 42-7 win over South Bend Adams. Tougher game ahead this week at 4-2 Elkhart. Last week: 20.
- Franklin Central (4-2): The Flashes steamrolled Noblesville 37-10 behind a 185-yard rushing game by Nathan Sparks. Up next: at Fishers. Last week: 21.
- Hamilton Southeastern (3-3): HSE drops several spots after a 35-29 loss to Zionsville. Kendrick Pennybaker had a massive game with nine catches for 265 yards and two TDs. Up next: vs. Noblesville. Last week: 13.
- Lafayette Jeff (5-1): The Bronchos rolled to a 77-0 win over Anderson. The remaining schedule is at Kokomo, vs. Marion and vs. Muncie Central. Last week: 23.
- Evansville Memorial (6-0): The Tigers defeated Evansville Bosse 56-6 to stay unbeaten. A better test ahead this week against Evansville Reitz. Last week: 24.
- Gibson Southern (5-1): The Titans produced one of the best wins of the week, defeating Heritage Hills 38-34. Zach Foster ran for 171 yards and two TDs and passed for 143 yards and a score. Next up: at Washington. Last week: NR.
- Heritage Hills (5-1): Probably unfair to drop Heritage Hills this far but a 38-34 loss to Gibson Southern means the Patriots land here. Oklahoma commit Tyler Ruxer had nine catches for 134 yards and a TD in the loss. Up next: Mt. Vernon (Posey). Last week: 6.
- Lawrence Central (3-3): The Bears only allowed 232 yards of offense to Center Grove but could not produce any offense, committing two turnovers and allowing seven sacks. Up next: at North Central. Last week: 19.
- Plainfield (5-1): The Quakers got off to a good start but could not hold on in a 37-19 loss to Decatur Central. Plainfield was limited to 97 rushing yards. Up next: vs. Franklin. Last week: 22.
