In search of mass at DL, Packers could target Georgia Tech's Zeek Biggers on Day 3

The Green Bay Packers start Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft with five picks at their disposal. After taking two wide receivers and an offensive lineman in the first three rounds, Brian Gutekunst could turn his attention to the defensive line.

A potential target in the seventh round is Zeek Biggers, the mammoth defensive tackle out of Georgia Tech who could be viewed as a TJ Slaton replacement.

A four-star recruit and former four-sport athlete, Biggers finished his four-year career at Georgia Tech with 10 tackles for loss and two sacks.

Biggers has the size (6-5, 321 pounds, 34-plus inch arms) that NFL teams are looking for in interior defensive linemen. With his strength and mass, Biggers is a boulder in the middle of the defensive line. He controls his gap and is hard to move off his spot. He’s willing to do the dirty work and take up space, while letting others around him clean up the mess. Over the past three seasons, he’s recorded 43 run stops.

Biggers was undoubtedly a vital piece to Tech’s defense in 2024, especially as it evolved under first-year coordinator Tyler Santucci and first-year defensive line coach Jess Simpson. Biggers was part of a defensive run that became one of the ACC’s best at defending the run and stopping opposing offenses on third down.

“Biggers was undoubtedly a vital piece to Tech’s defense in 2024, especially as it evolved under first-year coordinator Tyler Santucci and first-year defensive line coach Jess Simpson,” Chad Bishop, the Georgia Tech beat writer for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, said. “Biggers was part of a defensive run that became one of the ACC’s best at defending the run and stopping opposing offenses on third down. Biggers’ ability to help clog, so to speak, the middle of the line of scrimmage was vital for the way the Yellow Jackets operated.”

With his raw power and anchor strength, Biggers could step in and provide an immediate impact on run downs. Put him in front of the likes of Edgerrin Cooper and Quay Walker, and those two athletic linebackers could feast, as he takes up space.

“Biggers has seen and played a lot of football and developed into a boulder along a defensive front that can disrupt a team’s plan at running the ball,” Bishop said. “He’s not the best tackler, as evidenced by his grades according to Pro Football Focus but has no problem slowing down the development of a play and allowing his teammates to do the rest. He does the dirty work is a good way to look at it.”

At this time Biggers is a two-down player only. He finished his career at Georgia Tech with two sacks and 23 pressures. However, he has a powerful frame to cave in the pocket and get his long arms (near 35-inch arms) up to disrupt passing lanes (six pass deflections over the past two seasons).

“That will certainly be the big question with Biggers and one he’s aware of as he said as much during his pro day workout at Tech in March,” Bishop said. “Biggers has the size and length to affect the passing game, no doubt, it’s just a matter of doing it consistently. And his impact may come in terms of getting his hands up to knock down passes blocking the sightlines of the quarterback looking downfield.”

Biggers could provide special-teams value. During his time at Georgia Tech he blocked four field goals.

After losing Slaton in free agency, the Packers need to add some mass in the middle of the defensive line. Biggers could be an ideal target for the Packers with one of their seventh-round picks.

“Biggers could be a steal if he continues on a trajectory that has gone nothing but up since arriving in Atlanta in 2021,” Bishop said. “He is constantly working on his body shape and his weight, understands his deficiencies and strengths and is a quality performer on both defense and special teams. Understanding he’s a talent that still has potential to blossom even further is why NFL teams should keep an eye on him during the draft’s third day or immediately following its conclusion.”
