'Igamane left as staff no longer gave him confidence' – gossip

Those close to Hamza Igamane suggest the Morocco forward left Rangers for Lille this summer because staff at Ibrox no longer gave him much confidence and not because of the 22-year-old’s desire to leave the Glasgow club, or his refusal to come off the bench against St Mirren. It is likely to cost Rangers six months’ salary – around £600,000 – should they wish to sack Russell Martin if the under-pressure head coach is on a similar deal to predecessor Philippe Clement and could receive one year’s salary (£1.2m) or the full remaining cost of his contract (around £3.3m), but these are considerably less likely, and the club would also have to find money to part company with his backroom staff, which could double the cost of the decision.
