How would you tweak the efficient and productive Ohio State offense?

Throughout the year, we will be asking and answering questions about various Ohio State teams, the players, and anything else on our collective minds of varying degrees of importance. If you have a question that you would like to ask, you can tweet us @LandGrant33 or if you need more than 280 characters, send an email HERE.

Ohio State is entering an interesting three-week period. With games against Purdue, UCLA, and Rutgers before traveling to Ann Arbor to face Michigan on Nov. 29, the Buckeyes are in a situation where they have enough time and the appropriate opponents to continue finetuning things on both sides of the ball.

So, for this week’s fan survey, we are going to look at the OSU offense, which, despite being remarkably productive, still has some room to grow. We came up with four fairly specific possibilities that we think would benefit the Buckeye offense (even if one of them is a bit too out-of-the-box to ever actually happen).

Then, as it is game week, we want to get your insight into Saturday’s contest, so we want you to pick the winner and margin of victory.

Check out the questions below, and then make sure to vote in the survey beneath the article. If none of the options included in the survey line up with what you want to pick, feel free to head down to the comments at the bottom of the page and write in your pick. Then, on Saturday morning, check back with LGHL to see the results.

Question 1: If Ohio State added one unexpected offensive wrinkle for the stretch run and postseason, what would you like it to be?

Ohio State’s defense has been about as perfect as you could possibly imagine this season, so much so that it has made the incredibly efficient offense look underwhelming in comparison. While I believe that the offense is still a juggernaut waiting to be unleashed, there are clearly some things that Ryan Day, Brian Hartline, and company could do to get to the explosive potential that the unit is capable of.

So, while they are tinkering with the offensive line, switching up the running back personnel, and allowing Julian Sayin to let it loose more often, we wanted to know what additional possibility you think would actually be a significant improvement for the OSU offense.

Admittedly, some of these options are more likely to happen than others, but they all have their merits. What do you think?

Question 2: What will the margin of victory be in Saturday’s game against Purdue?

When the FanDuel Sportsbook opened its betting for this game, Ohio State was installed as a 20.5-point favorite, but it has gone up in the days since, and as of the writing of this article, it sits at 29.5. The gold standard college football analytics system, SP+, has it as a 40-11 game in favor of the Buckeyes, which is almost exactly on the line.

So, while I will make my official pick and prediction on Saturday morning in the “Land-Grant Tailgate Podcast,” right now, I am inclined to go with something like 42-0.
