For the third time in four years, the Texas Longhorns softball team is preparing for the Women’s College World Series championship series. No. 6-seed Texas will take on No. 12-seed Texas Tech for the national championship.
Texas booked its trip to the finals by beating Tennessee 2-0 on Monday. The Longhorns beat the Florida Gators and Oklahoma earlier in the tournament. It was the first time Texas has beaten the Sooners in the WCWS.
On Monday, the Red Raiders upset No. 2-seed Oklahoma to advance to the final. Tech got a walk-off sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seven to win 3-2. Oklahoma was trying to win the national title for the fifth year in a row.
Now, the championship is a battle of teams from the State of Texas and former conference rivals.
