The world of Grounded 2 can be a dangerous place to explore, but there are some hidden weapons that can be really useful in your fight against all the creatures. These weapons can’t be crafted, and only one of them exists in each world. Here we’ll guide you to all the locations where you can find secret weapons and explain their best use in Grounded 2.
This list includes the following secret weapons in Grounded 2:
It’s also worth noting that these weapons can also be upgraded at the Smithing Station, and they require the same materials to upgrade as regular weapons.
Gloom Skewer
The Gloom Skewer is a spear with a really fast stabbing speed. The Gloom Skewer is hidden inside the South Entrance of Toxic Anthill, and the location of the POI can be seen in the image above.
For this, you’ll need the Omni-Hammer upgraded to level 2. You’ll also want a gas mask to survive the toxic fumes of the anthill. Additionally, make sure you have items like torches, bandages, and weapons of choice. The Gloom Skewer is guarded by the Cockroach Queen, and you may need to fight her to get past.
I’d recommend riding the Red Soldier Ant buggy if you want to avoid a fight. The Orb Weaver buggy can’t go inside the ant hill, and you’ll have to leave the spider buggy behind, but the Red Soldier Ant buggy can make this trip much faster, and you can speed past the Cockroach Queen without needing to engage in battle.
Fighting means you’ll need weapons and also some form of sizzle protection. This roach will shoot sizzle goop at you, so eating Mint Shards or drinking a Mintito smoothie can help keep you alive.
Inside Toxic Anthill
Either way, you need to descend into the Toxic Ant Hill until you reach a cavern with two spray paint cans and a donut. From here, take the right tunnel entrance to reach another cavern with the Cockroach Queen.
Cockroach Queen
Fight her or dash by to get to the part of the ant hill that’s just past the Cockroach Queen. Carry on straight down the path. You’ll eventually come to a wall with a blob of Raw Science. Turn left here.
Chop these mushrooms
This takes you into a larger cavern area. Beware: If you chose to avoid the Cockroach Queen earlier, she can possibly respawn in here. Again, you can try to avoid her, but you’ll also need to chop the two large mushrooms at the back of the cavern to access the Gloom Skewer.
Also, if you haven’t been here before, make sure you also search the body to the right of the mushrooms and grab the Toxic Ant Hill Optical Disk before you leave. This has some very helpful blueprints if you take it back to a Ranger Station.
Bushwacker
The Bushwacker is a powerful bow that deals bonus damage to creatures with full health, meaning your first shot with this bow really counts.
To find this weapon, you’ll want to take a buggy into the Pines and reach the area as shown in the image above. The Red Soldier Ant Buggy works fine, but the Orb Weave buggy will navigate the spider web paths better.
Navigate the branches
You want to scale the branches that lead further upwards into the Pines. Eventually, you’ll come to a place where the branch splits off left and right. There might be an O.R.C. butterfly to fight here. You want to take the left branch that leads further upwards. Once again, the branch splits off, and you need to go right and cross a spider web path to the next branch section.
Then, you’re descending downward on the branch to reach a second web path. Cross this web and go upwards. You should be able to see a yellow leaf that you can’t reach.
Yellow leaf with crate
To access this leaf, you’ll want to carry on the path by crossing two more spider web paths. This will lead up first and eventually down to the yellow leaf. The supply crate is sitting on the tip of the leaf, and open it to collect the Bushwacker.
The branches and webs get kind of chaotic here, and it can be easy to lose track of the leaf and your surroundings. If this happens, go into photo mode to be able to safely view the area around you.
There might be an Orb Weaver spider here. So, you may or may not have to kill it, but be prepared to fight just in case.
Pinch Wacker
The Pinch Wacker returns from the first game, and just like before, this weapon will zap all the bugs around you. In Grounded 2, you’ll find this powerful weapon by heading to the soda can found north of the Fire Pit. Before making the trip here, you’ll need to craft at least one Bratburst explosive to destroy a wall needed to gain access to the weapon. It’s also worth mentioning that the Orb Weaver buggy can’t follow you into the tunnel you need to enter, but the Red Soldier Ant buggy can.
A Bratburst can be crafted with the following:
- 1 – Red Ant Egg
- 2 – Spicy Shards
- 4 – Mite Fangs
- 3 – Dry Grass Chunks
These are all fairly easily accessible resources. The Red Ant Eggs can usually be found in any ant hill, and you may have collected some while doing the main mission objectives. Spicy Shards come from Spicy Candy, which are the chili pepper-shaped candy. These are found all over and even dug up as buried treasure, but a guaranteed place to get them is at the Picnic Table POI and the Podium.
Tunnel location for Pinch Wacker
Once at the soda can by the Fire Pit, you’ll navigate inside a tunnel, which is located to the right of the can when facing the top of the can. There will be scorpions in here, so be prepared for a fight.
Brittle wall in tunnel
This is a small tunnel, so you won’t have to go far. There will be a spicy candy box you can walk behind, and there’s a brittle wall you can destroy with the Bratburst. This gives you access to a room with the Pinch Wacker sitting on a chair, and there’s a supply crate with resources you can loot.
Heatwave
The Heatwave is a powerful heat staff that can deal strong burn damage. This weapon is found in the Fire Pit POI. You’ll need the level 2 upgrade for the Omni-Hammer, and you’ll also want items to help keep you cool. This is directly in the Fire Pit, where you’ll suffer sizzle damage unless you have Mint Shards or Mintitos smoothies.
Enter Fire Pit here
Enter the center of the Fire Pit from a hole found on the northeast side. There’s a green army man toy you can climb up to enter. Your buggy can’t follow here. Consume an item to keep you cool, and be prepared to fight some O.R.C. Cockroach Nymphs.
Action figure head blocked by charcoal
It’s also worth noting there is a Milk Molar and Gold Molar near the top where you enter, but to get the Heatwave weapon, you’ll want to go down to the center. There is an action figure head, and the weapon is inside. Your path is locked by lumps of charcoal. Break the charcoal with the level 2 hammer to access the area and grab the Heatwave.
Crimson Avenger
The Crimson Avenger is a sword found only in the Spider Den Anthill: North Entrance, which is located in the Pines POI. To unlock this weapon, you’ll need the Red Soldier Ant buggy and the level 2 upgrade for the Omni-Shovel.
You’ll also want to be equipped with weapons and bandages, as there are some enemies you’ll need to fight on your way.
Climb up the rocks and turn left
Travel the passageway until the first split. Choose the right side path. Continue on until the area opens up into a larger cavern. There are small ledges like stairs that you can climb up with your ant buggy. Look left to see a blocked path with vines. Your buggy needs to crunch through to open up the passage here.
Use shovel on this gum
This leads you down into a large box with various items and gum on the wall. Use your upgraded shovel to access the Crimson Avenger.
Ice Sickles
The Ice Sickles are dual daggers with a chill effect, and you can get this weapon from the Ice Cream Cart POI. This is definitely one of the hardest special weapons to obtain in the game, so you’ll want to make sure you’re prepared. This requires you not only to fight and defend an objective area, but you’ll also be in the cold elements for a long time.
Make sure you have the Fuzzy armor set for warmth, torches, Spicy Shards, and Blazin’ Brew smoothies. I recommend crafting several of the smoothies for this mission. The Spicy Safety Mutation is also recommended. This will help you avoid freezing inside the Ice Cream Cart.
There are tons of scorpions inside the Ice Cream Cart. These enemies are weak to smashing, so an upgraded Ant Club can be useful here. You also need the level 2 upgrade for the Omni-Hammer.
Head inside the Ice Cream Cart from the western side with the ice cream tubs and ice cream cone, as shown in the image above. Enter through the ice cream cone, and you’ll see two pathways to choose. Take the left passage to go into a large open area with ice cream bars and scorpions. You might want to take some of the enemies out before continuing so you don’t get overwhelmed.
Head toward copper pipe
Otherwise, head up the ice cream bars on the far left to reach a long copper pipe. Cross the pipe to reach a fan.
Break ice and go under the fan
Use your hammer to bust the ice on the bottom of the fan, so you can access a hole in the ground underneath it. There are three separate chunks of ice you need to bust to get the fan blades to move. You’ll need to drop down in the hole and navigate a tunnel, fighting a few scorpions on your way down.
You’ll reach another level of the Ice Cream Cart and see the top of the Ice Sickles sticking up out of the ground. They’re mostly buried in ice, and you’ll need to perform a defend event similar to the story’s MIX.R. defending waves. Interact with the sickles to start the event, and fight off waves of scorpions to complete this.
If you fail, you’ll need to repair the sickles before attempting again. Otherwise, surviving and completing this will thaw out the Ice Sickles for you to collect.
Scarlet Aegis
The Scarlet Aegis isn’t technically a weapon, but it is a special shield that you might want to consider collecting. It’s a heavy shield that fully blocks damage and doesn’t drain as much stamina, and it also heals buggies near you when you perform perfect blocks.
To collect this shield, you’ll need your Red Soldier Ant buggy and a Bratburst explosive. Head inside the tunnel as marked in the image above.
Brittle wall in tunnel
This is a tunnel near the podium that is used in the main mission following the Signals and Stashes objective. If you’ve never been here before, the tunnel is blocked by vines, and you’ll need to command the Red Soldier Ant buggy to crunch these to open the path.
Inside, you’ll need to fight scorpions and spiderlings. But you want to follow the tunnel until you reach a brittle wall that you can break.
Secret stash with Scarlet Aegis
Use your Bratburst to destroy the wall and reveal a hidden supply stash. This container has the Scarlet Aegis for you to collect.
