How To Complete The Nian Suichang Quest In Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

Are you hoping to finish the Nian Suichang quest in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers? You encounter this NPC several times throughout your journey and, more often than not, he brags about showcasing his might. Of course, helping him yields a bunch of rewards, including unique weapons and armors. Before we continue, though, please be reminded that this article contains spoilers.

How to complete the Nian Suichang quest in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers

The Nian Suichang quest begins at Narrow Stretch, just an hour or so after starting the campaign. This whole arc will take you all the way to the late-game stages. Be sure to give him the items that he needs, as well as meet him in the required locations. Otherwise, he might not show up down the line.

Note 1: Nian Suichang can be summoned as an ally in several boss fights. Completing the necessary tasks ensures that you’ve got help for some of the toughest battles ahead.

Note 2: Certain locations must be visited in order. That means you must go to the Cloudspire region before heading to Mt. Zhenwu.

Nian Suichang: Worship’s Rise location #1

The Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Nian Suichang quest line starts in Worship’s Rise – Narrow Stretch. After exiting Lightzen Temple, cross the river and you’ll see him standing nonchalantly in front of a tree.

Rewards:

Bone Whistle – Used to summon companions during boss battles.Well Met emote

Nian Suichang: Worship’s Rise location #2 – The Lu Bingzhang boss fight and Mercurial Blood item

Next up, you can chat with Nian Suichang on the first floor of Shu Sanctum. He’s right next to the shrine itself. Now, if you enter the chamber on the third floor, you’ll be able to fight a boss named Feathered Priest – Lu Bingzhang. You can use the Bone Whistle to summon Suichang for this bout.

Defeating Lu Bingzhang nets you the Mercurial Blood item. Give this to Nian Suichang to receive 3x Soft Rush.

Nian Suichang: Worship’s Rise location #3 and #4

Nian Suichang also moves to a couple of locations in Worship’s Rise:

Location #3: Reverent Temple (interior) This happens after you give him the Mercurial Blood. He’ll be on the second floor of the temple right next to Xuanyangzi.Reward: 3x Kong WineLocation #4: Reverent Temple (courtyard) This happens after you defeat Commander Honglan in Tang Palace. He’ll be right in front of the Reverent Temple gate that you can open with a key.Reward: 5x Spicy Soup

Nian Suichang: Cloudspire location #1 – The Tattered Pack item

The next part of the Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Nian Suichang quest happens in Cloudspire. After leaving Hillswatch and seeing the guard tower just beyond, you’ll spot Suichang to your right. He says that he’s lost his equipment.

Continue down the road and you’ll see a soldier guarding the pass. The item on the ground is the Tattered Pack that Suichang is looking for.

Major decision: Expose Nian Suichang or remain silent?

This next part is extremely important since your decision here impacts what transpires much later in the campaign. Basically, once you give the Tattered Pack to Nian Suichang, you’ll be presented with two options:

Expose Nian SuichangRemain silent

Both options reward you with the Sorry emote. However, the “expose” answer causes Suichang to turn hostile much later. If you “remain silent,” he’ll be friendlier toward you down the line. Needless to say, remaining silent tends to be the better choice here.

Nian Suichang: Cloudspire location #2 – The Ai Nengqi boss fight

Upon reaching the Rebel Camp in Cloudspire, you’ll be able to open the large wooden gate using the Rebel Camp Key. Just before the gate, you’ll see Suichang again. He wants to help you for the coming battle.

For the next bout, you’ll be up against General of the North – Ai Nengqi, a gigantic brute that imbues his attacks with fire, lightning, and ice. Naturally, having a helpful ally ought to make this fight significantly easier.

After beating Ai Nengqi, head back outside the gate and you’ll see Suichang lying on the ground. Talk to him to receive 3x Kong Wine.

Nian Suichang: Mt. Zhenwu locations

This part of the Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Nian Suichang quest is all about how he tends to move around in Mt. Zhenwu. He’ll actually switch to a new spot three times as you progress through the Refugee Camp and surrounding areas:

Location #1: He’ll be near an NPC named Magalhaes and the Refugee Camp shrine. He gives you 3x Emerald Lotus Seed.Location #2: After defeating the Bo Sorcerer, he’ll move to the opposite side of the plateau where there’s a shortcut/gate that leads back to the Refugee Camp. He’ll hand over 3x Niter Fire Pot. Oh, and the Child in the Jar should be right next to him, too.Location #3: After beating General of the South – Liu Wenxiu, Suichang will move to the walkway overlooking the yard where you just fought the boss. You’ll receive 3x Soft Rush Flowers, and you’ll be able to unlock another shortcut back to the hub.

Nian Suichang: The Fierce Tiger/Sovereign boss fight

If you’ve done every aforementioned step, Suichang should be raring to go as you duel the main boss in Mt. Zhenwu, the Fierce Tiger/Sovereign Zhang Xianzhong. You can use the Bone Whistle to summon him for the bout. Even better, if you’ve been tackling the Huang Jian’e quest along the way, then you can summon her as well to make it a 3-on-1 fight.

The point of no return

Now, here comes the important part: After defeating Sovereign Zhang Xianzhong, there’s a path that leads you to a cave. Suichang is waiting for you by the cave entrance. He’ll also give you 3x Special Pill.

Likewise, in front of that cave is another NPC that asks if you wish to proceed further. Do not accept this proposal just yet, as this is the point of no return. Make sure you didn’t miss anything in the first region before you proceed.

In any case, that does it for our Wuchang: Fallen Feathers Nian Suichang quest guide. There are other quest arcs that conclude a lot earlier, such as the ones that involve the Great Yonder Gang and Child in the Jar. Others, similar to Nian Suichang’s arc, require you to progress toward the late-game stages. These include He Youzai/Fang Yao and the White-Robed Elder.

Many dangers await you as you venture forth in Sichuan Province during the fall of the Ming Dynasty. If you need more help, we’ve got you covered with our Wuchang: Fallen Feathers guides hub.
