Mustafa Muhammad Abu Ara, a Hamas leader in the West Bank, died in Israeli custody after his health deteriorated. The Palestinian Commission of Detainees Affairs stated that Abu Ara, 63, was transferred to a hospital from Ramon jail in southern Israel before his death. They claim he was suffering from serious health issues before his arrest in October last year and was subjected to torture and denied medical treatment in custody. At least 18 Palestinians have died in Israeli custody since the Gaza war began on Oct. 7.
