From Louisville high schools to college basketball rosters. Where area girls are headed

The Louisville area is known for producing college basketball talent. Here is a list of where Class of 2025 seniors are scheduled to play this school year.

Players are listed alphabetically and with name of high school and college/university.

Gwynnie Franz, Whitefield, Aurora

Gwynnie Franz will take her long-range shooting prowess to Aurora this school year. She led the commonwealth in 3-pointers made last season (144), averaging 15.1 points per game for the Wildcats and 4.1 3-pointers. She also totaled more than 1,000 points in her high school career.

Morgan Frey, Sacred Heart, Thomas More

Morgan Frey finished her career as a four-time state champion with the Valkyries. She averaged 7.1 points and 6.8 rebounds for Sacred Heart last season. She also represented Kentucky in the Kentucky-Indiana All-Star basketball games.

ZaKiyah Johnson, Sacred Heart, LSU

LSU signee ZaKiyah Johnson is a four-time Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year. She capped her historical high school career at Sacred Heart by helping the Valkyries win their fifth consecutive state title. Johnson averaged 21.2 points and 7.3 rebounds per game last season. She shot 54.2% from the field and was named Kentucky’s 2025 Miss Basketball.

Anieja Russell, Butler, CU-Harrodsburg

Anieja Russell earned second-team All-Sixth Region honors as a senior after averaging 8.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game for the Bearettes.

Noel Smith, Whitefield, Cumberlands

Noel Smith led Whitefield to its first Sixth Region championship game, accumulating a program-record 25 wins. She was named the Sixth Region Player of the Year. In her high school career, she tallied more than 1,500 points and 1,500 rebounds.

Arionna Tunstall, Seneca, Simmons

Arionna Tunstall earned first-team All-Seventh Region honors last year, after averaging 14.4 points and 10.4 rebounds per game.
