Food Safety Violations Uncovered at Kritunga and Head Quarters Rest-o-Bar

Hyderabad: The food safety department on Wednesday uncovered multiple food safety violations at Kritunga – The Palegar’s Cuisine Restaurant and Head Quarters Rest-o-Bar, both located in Somajiguda. At both outlets, food handlers were found not wearing appropriate haircaps, gloves, and aprons.

At Kritunga, inspectors found several infractions: 6 kg of paneer worth Rs 2,100 were discovered in sealed packets without FSSAI licence, logo, and ‘use by’ dates; 6 kg of methi malai paste worth `1,800 were found expired. Both were discarded.

Non-veg paste worth Rs 648 and citric acid packets worth Rs 150 were discarded due to improper labelling. Additionally, 156 units of one-litre water bottles of Kritunga Palegar’s brand worth Rs 7,800 were seized due to a TDS (total dissolved solids) value of 4 parts per million.

At Head Quarters Rest-o-Bar, pizza bases, garlic bread, and noodles were improperly labelled, leading to their disposal. Medical fitness certificates for food handlers were missing. Both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food items were stored together in the refrigerator without proper labelling.

In both establishments, the kitchen premises were exposed to the outside environment without proper mesh barriers to prevent pest entry, and dustbins were found open without lids.

At a KFC outlet the FSSAI licence was not prominently displayed, officials said.
