First telugu woman in a relay to cross english channel

Dr Queeni Victoria Gandam, a mother of two, from Hyderabad, is the first lady from the two Telugu speaking state to cross the English channel on Wednesday, in a relay swim from England to France, which had a team of eight. The total distance of 71 kilometers, as the temperature of water was between 12 to 14 degrees. For this team which took 60 hours fifty minuets. Queeni who is 43, took up swimming when she was taking her kids for the swimming classes, the children asked me also to join them. in the years 2018 she first time entered into the swimming pool.

Queeni, who is a fashion designer by profession, her passion is for cooking and feeding people along with having pets. She explained, “we started in the night at around 11, when my turn to enter the water was in the early hours as the dawn was breaking, the water was freezing cold and the sun was tearing the sky and peeping out.”

He was excited while she was narrating, “as I was swimming and the body was shivering out of cold and tiredness, the jelly fishes which came to me and kissed, this was an amazing feel, and that again boosted my energy.”

He explained the challenges during her swim, “when I got my second lap, I was near to the French course, the tides were high, water was more chilled. After entering into the water it took around three minutes to get adjusted and come to the free style.

Queeni who already participated turkey in Masters international invitational meet in Feb 2019, in cario world underwater finswimming championship in june 2023, and Serbia open water finswimming championship in September 2023. Dubai for International invitation meet in November 2023.

Queeni, explains her journey after her marriage, she was totally dedicated to her house hold work, after two year she got her first baby, she was totally involved in take care of home and rising up the kids.”
“My life changed after 28 of June 2018, when I entered the pool, from here on the life changed, I also took up athletics participated in several events.”

She explained her practices around 5 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening, a practice gives one confidence and strength. I am lucky that in y journey I got a supportive family and the coaches who trained me, despite of my age they dedicatedly put the efforts on me.”
