First rumblings erupt in BRS to elevate Harish Rao as working president

Hyderabad: The first sign of rumblings in BRS post its severe drubbing in assembly and Lok Sabha elections emerged with party ideologue and senior most leader V Prakash demanding elevation to former Minister T Harish Rao in the party.

He wanted Harish, most popular among rural masses, to be made State BRS president or at least working president of the party.
What is more interesting is that Prakash indeed found fault with K Chandrasekhar Rao for not heeding to his earlier suggestion with regard to elevation of Harish Rao.
Prakash’s comments made in an interview to a web channel is doing the rounds across social media.
Confirming this to Deccan Chronicle, Prakash said, he would soon meet KCR and raise the issue. “I tried pushing the proposal even before elections but could not succeed,” he pointed out.
Maintaining that Harish is a very good leader, Prakash said while he is popular among rural masses, K T Rama Rao enjoys support among urbanites. Harish proved his mettle winning seven out of 10 seats in Medak, he said.
The BRS leader also opened room for discussion on whether the KCR era is coming to an end. Ours is a national party and KCR is national president. But there is no state president and KCR can make Harish the State president, he said adding that as an alternative he may be made working president.
Though the two leaders KTR and Harish never fought it out openly, it’s also an open secret that both did have serious differences and clash of interests.
The KTR camp with tacit support of his father made attempts earlier to completely undermine Harish. At one stage, Harish used to tell his visitors that he was helpless in getting things done in the government as officers were instructed not to heed to his requests/proposals.
However, he bounced back after 2019 Lok Sabha setback and consolidated his position particularly after Eatala Rajender was shunted out.
Even after the poll debacle recently, Harish, according to his own party leaders, has been fighting against Revanth government on public issues and more impactful than the current working president.
