Fans guide to Detroit Lions training camp, preseason: What you need to know

Training camp may already underway for the Detroit Lions, but fans will have to wait a bit to catch their first glimpse of the team as they begin preparations for their latest Super Bowl quest. The team’s first five practices are behind closed doors.

When the Lions unlock the gates, big crowds are expected to file through them. Every ticket to each of the six practices open to the general public has already been claimed, according to the team.

But if you already have one in hand, this info could come in handy:

The Meijer Performance Center on 222 Republic Drive in Allen Park, Michigan.

Lions training camp bag policy

Personal belongings from guests are subject to inspection upon entry.

The Lions say: “Only bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12″ x 6″ x 12″ will be permitted” with exceptions made for needed medical items after gate inspection.

On the don’t bring list: Professional cameras, video cameras, selfie sticks, drones, food, beverage, coolers, lawn chairs, blankets, umbrellas, purses (larger than a clutch) or backpacks.

Small clutch bags or small camera and binocular cases “not exceeding 4½ by 6½ inches, with or without a handle or strap,” may be carried into the facility. Fans can also bring a football, jersey or other items to potentially have autographed.

Lions parking for training camp

Parking is free and available in select lots near the Meijer Performance Center with a free shuttle ride provided to fans who park in the Fairlane Circle lots. A limited amount of ADA parking is available on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Do the Lions have joint practices in 2025 training camp?

Yes, the Lions have separate joint practices in Allen Park with the Miami Dolphins and the Houston Texans. The practices with the Dolphins will be Aug. 13-14. The lone practice with the Texans will take place Aug. 21.

Who do the Lions play in preseason 2025?

The Lions will play four games before the Week 1 regular-season opener against the Green Bay Packers on Sept. 7.

For audio, games will be broadcast on the Lions Radio Network. The Lions’ flagship radio station in Detroit is WXYT-FM (97.1).
