Ex-Steelers WR shares heartfelt message following major roster decision

The NFL roster deadline: a day that, while some dread, others see their dreams realized — and that couldn’t be more true for ex-Steelers WR Cody White.

White, who played for Pittsburgh from 2020 to 2022, took to social media to celebrate a career milestone he hadn’t reached until his current tenure with the Seattle Seahawks — he finally made the initial 53-man roster.

“Not everybody’s journey is the same. My football life has been crazy,” White wrote via Instagram. “I’ve been cut eight times, been on five different teams. I’ve been in the league for six years, and I’ve never made the 53-man roster after training camp — until today! All praise to the man above, perseverance and hard work. Just know there will be tough days, tough moments, tough years. Just keep going and never quit! ‘Quitters never win, and winners never quit.’ I can finally call my momma and tell her I made it!”

Signing with the Kansas City Chiefs as an undrafted free agent in 2020, White wouldn’t see any NFL action until the Pittsburgh Steelers’ Week 3 matchup versus the Cincinnati Bengals in 2021.

You can’t help but feel for White as he heads into Year 6, further realizing his dream by earning a spot on Seattle’s 53-man roster — where he’ll have the opportunity to face off against his former Steelers when Pittsburgh hosts the Seahawks in Week 2 this season.
