Ex-Falcons wide receiver hits back on social media over lack of highlights

Calvin Ridley’s return to Atlanta has been anything but quiet thus far. The Falcons hosted the Tennessee Titans for a pair of joint practices ahead of this Friday’s preseason matchup. Ridley, who spent four seasons in Atlanta, made his presence felt over two fiery practice sessions — both on the field and on social media.

The former first-round pick got off to a promising start with the Falcons, but his career was halted after he was given a season-long suspension for violating the NFL’s gambling policy. The breakup between Ridley and Atlanta left unresolved tension, and it showed this week.

During both joint practices, Falcons cornerback A.J. Terrell was matched up against Ridley, rekindling a competitive fire between the two.

After the first day, the Falcons posted a photo of Terrell covering Ridley with the caption “Terrell Island.” Its safe to assume that Ridley did not agree with how that matchup was portrayed.

The Titans wide receiver hit back in the comments of the aforementioned video clip, telling the social media team they “need to stop” and suggesting the account “post them all then” — in reference to the reps that Ridley won against Terrell.

On Day 2, Ridley made sure to carry that same energy from the opening practice session. After catching a pass against Terrell, he taunted the Falcons sideline, yelling, “Do y’all remember me?” Moments later, he caught another pass from rookie quarterback Cam Ward and taunted Terrell directly.

At the conclusion of the second session, Ridley was heard saying the Titans won on Day 2 — a claim that was refuted by the same person who reported hearing the comment.

While Ridley has played against the Falcons once since being traded away, this will be the first time back in Atlanta to face his former team. If Ridley does suit up and play this Friday night, expect him to bring that same intensity he brought to practice.
