GameShare Goodness
One of the overlooked new features for Switch 2 is GameShare, which offers the ability to let other people play select titles on their systems with only one copy of the game. This can be co-op with a buddy or even competitive multiplayer. So far, Nintendo has detailed six games that support this functionality, such as Super Mario Odyssey and Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV – Switch 2 Edition.
Here’s a quick breakdown of how GameShare works: Locally, Switch 2 owners can share compatible titles with other Switch 2 and original Switch players. But online through GameChat, GameShare is exclusive to Switch 2 systems.
However, not every game supports local and online GameShare functionality. Nintendo’s website breaks down how each title works with GameShare, as well as noting that more games will become compatible in the future through free updates. Five of the six GameShare-compatible games have received free Switch 2 updates. Super Mario Party Jamboree + Jamboree TV is the only one that needs a paid Switch 2 Edition upgrade.
Below is a list of each game that supports GameShare and whether it works online with GameChat. Don’t forget that GameChat is free for Switch 2 owners until March 31, 2026. Afterward, access to that feature will be locked behind a Nintendo Switch Online membership.
