The Supreme Court on Friday asked the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to provide instructions regarding a plea filed by activist Mahesh Raut, an accused in the Elgar Parishad-Maoist links case, seeking interim bail to attend rituals following his grandmother’s death. A vacation bench of Justices Sanjay Kumar and Augustine George Masih scheduled the matter for hearing on June 21. The court questioned the necessity for further ceremonies, noting that the funeral had already taken place on May 26.
