East Central Indiana high school baseball scores, top performers from week of April 14-19

High school baseball season is in full swing across East Central Indiana. Here are all of the Muncie-area high school baseball scores and top performances from the week of April 14-19.

Teams are in alphabetical order

Blackford Bruins (4-5)

April 15: won 8-0 vs. SouthwoodApril 17: lost 8-4 at Muncie CentralApril 18: won 7-4 vs. Lewis CassApril 18: lost 11-9 vs. Blue River Valley

Top Performance: Trey McIntire pitched five innings and allowed no runs on one hit and two walks with eight strikeouts vs. Southwood.

Blue River Valley Vikings (4-1)

April 15: won 14-8 at Eastern HancockApril 18: won 11-9 at Blackford

Top Performance: Kye Golliher had a monster two-way game against Eastern Hancock. He went 2-for-5 at the plate with two home runs for five RBIs. He also started on the mound and went four innings, allowing three runs on three hits and a walk while recording 10 strikeouts.

Cowan Blackhawks (4-2)

April 14: won 1-0 at Muncie BurrisApril 15: won 5-0 at Randolph SouthernApril 17: lost 13-2 to Shenandoah

Top Performance: Luke Garrett got the win in a pitchers’ duel on April 14 at Muncie Burris. Garrett went all seven innings and allowed just three hits and five walks with 13 strikeouts.

Daleville Broncos (4-2)

April 15: lost 8-7 at Wes-DelApril 17: lost 15-0 to Monroe Central

Top Performance: Caleb Aiken went 1-for-2 with an RBI, walked twice and scored two runs on April 15 at Wes-Del.

Delta Eagles (2-4)

April 16: lost 3-4 at Greenfield-CentralApril 17: won 7-4 vs. Greenfield-Central

Top Performance: Zane Cline went off in a win over Greenfield-Central on April 17. Cline pitched the first 4⅔ innings with no earned runs and seven strikeouts. He also hit a three-run home run.

Jay County Patriots (2-5)

April 14: lost 15-0 vs. Coldwater (Ohio)April 15: won 3-1 vs. New CastleApril 17: lost 6-9 at Yorktown

Top Performance: Joseph Geesaman had an impressive start on the mound in the win over New Castle, going 4⅓ innings with no runs allowed and six strikeouts.

Monroe Central Golden Bears (5-4)

April 14: lost 11-1 at NortheasternApril 15: lost 21-4 at ShenandoahApril 17: won 15-0 at DalevilleApril 18: lost 8-3 vs. Hagerstown

Top Performance: Logan Walker went 3-for-3 at the plate with four RBIs in the Golden Bears’ run rule victory over Daleville.

Muncie Burris Owls (1-6)

April 14: lost 1-0 vs. CowanApril 15: won 6-5 at Seton CatholicApril 17: lost 10-0 at University

Top Performance: Parker Evans went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBIs in the Owls’ win over Seton Catholic. Evans hit a double in the top of the seventh inning to score one run, which ended up being the game-winning run.

Muncie Central Bearcats (1-7)

April 14: lost 11-1 at Winchester CommunityApril 15: lost 9-0 to RichmondApril 16: lost 10-0 at RichmondApril 17: won 8-4 vs. BlackfordApril 19: lost 10-0 at Lafayette JeffApril 19: lost 10-0 at Lafayette Jeff (DH)

Top Performance: Gage Emberton was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate in the win over Blackford. He hit two doubles and logged one RBI.

New Castle Trojans (2-7)

April 15: lost 3-1 at Jay CountyApril 16: won 6-2 vs. RushvilleApril 17: lost 9-0 vs. Knightstown

Top Performance: Caiden Ragan went 3-for-3 and scored a run in New Castle’s win over Rushville.

Shenandoah Raiders (5-1)

April 15: won 21-4 at Monroe CentralApril 16: lost 7-2 at HagerstownApril 17: won 13-2 at Cowan

Top Performance: Collin Osenbaugh was excellent at the plate and even better on the mound against Cowan. The Louisville baseball signee went 2-for-5 with a double and a two-run home run while pitching six innings and allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks with 13 strikeouts.

Union (Modoc) Rockets (0-2-1)

April 17: lost 18-2 at Cambridge City Lincoln

Top Performance: No statistics available

Wapahani Raiders (3-3)

April 15: won 13-3 vs. EastbrookApril 17: won 10-2 vs. Eastern Hancock

Top Performance: Clay Estep had a big day at the plate against Eastbrook, going 2-for-3 with a three-run home run.

Wes-Del Warriors (3-4)

April 15: won 8-7 vs. DalevilleApril 17: won 12-2 vs. Randolph Southern

Top Performance: Tyler Summers went 2-for-5 with two RBIs, including the walk-off winner, in the Warriors’ victory over Daleville.

Winchester Community Golden Falcons (5-1)

April 14: won 11-1 vs. Muncie CentralApril 15: lost 13-3 at KnightstownApril 18: won 13-0 at Union City

Top Performance: Landen Porfidio pitched a no-hitter in five innings in the Golden Falcons’ run rule victory over Union City. He allowed two walks and recorded eight strikeouts. Porfidio also went 1-for-2 with an RBI on offense.

Yorktown Tigers (4-3)

April 15: lost 6-1 at New PalestineApril 16: won 3-2 vs. New PalestineApril 17: won 9-6 at Jay County

Top Performance: Ryan Burkholder had a big day against Jay County. He was 1-for-3 at the plate with a three-run home run. Burkholder also earned the win on the mound, pitching the final three innings in which he allowed no runs and gave up just one hit and two walks.
