Democrats ask Trump to resume a major offshore wind project near Rhode Island

The Democratic governors of Rhode Island and Connecticut, members of Congress and union workers are calling on the Trump administration to allow a major offshore wind project to move forward. The administration halted construction last week on a nearly complete wind farm, saying the federal government needs to review it and address national security concerns. It did not specify what the concerns are. The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management said Monday it’s not commenting further at this time. The politicians are getting involved because stopping work on the Revolution Wind project threatens local jobs and their state climate goals, and could drive up electricity prices.
