Commanders' analyst breaks down four EDGE options at No. 29

What if the Commanders want to take an edge defender at No. 29?

Al Galdi welcomed Washington analyst Mark Bullock as a guest on Tuesday’s episode of the “Al Galdi Podcast.” Bullock has studied edge rushers and provided his analysis of four edge rushers who might interest the Commanders at No. 29.

Here are some of the select quotes from Bullock regarding his film study of four edge rushers:

Donovan Ezeiruaku (Boston College 6-3, 248)

“He has an elite trait in his ability to bend and dip around the edge. He can get super low; he has flexible hips and ankles. I think he is reliant on one or two moves. He is an enticing pass rush prospect who, two or three years down the road, could be the best pass rusher in this class.”

Shemar Stewart (Texas A&M 6-5, 267)

“Shemar Stewart’s performances were very inconsistent. He moved inside, outside, up and down the line, many times inside the tackle, which makes it hard to attack the edge. Still, 4.5 sacks over three years is not very good. He is very much one of those traits vs production guys for debate. In three seasons in college, he never really improved. Is he going to in the NFL? I don’t know.”

James Pearce Jr. (Tennessee 6-5, 245)

“I think Pearce is the better prospect (over Scourton). Good speed, good bend around the edge. The questions we hear about his behavior make me think he might not be a Dan Quinn, Adam Peters guy. “

Nic Scourton (Texas A&M 6-3, 257)

“I think Scourton might be the better pro (over Pearce). He has good hands, more moves. As he bulks up in weight and strength, his moves will become even better.”
