And so, a generation of Gen-Zers raised on Christine Baranski as the sexiest Who in Whoville has come home to roost. There are currently dating rumors about King Princess and Christine Baranski flying, and it’s hard not to root for them. The two are constantly out and about together, hand in hand, looking like the hottest lesbian age-gap relationship imaginable (sorry, Holland Taylor and Sarah Paulson). Look, they’re just friends, but that’s not fun, so both are actively provoking speculation just to tease us. Ahead of King Princess’s new album, Girl Violence, out September 12, indulge us and them, and follow along with the story of the best friendship (for now) in Hollywood.

How did grande dame Christine Baranski meet queer pop star King Princess?

Anybody asking this needs to keep abreast of Nicole Kidman. The two co-starred with Kidman on the second season of the fake-sounding show Nine Perfect Strangers, which aired on Hulu earlier this year. King Princess played a lesbian musician named Tina, and Baranski played Victoria, who kept a much younger lover. And though there was romance, their respective counterparts were not each other. Missed opportunity!

Offscreen, they were first photographed together on September 14, 2024, at MPTF’s 18th Annual Evening Before the Emmys at Century Park, where they were seen with Hollywood’s favorite bisexual, Hannah Einbinder.

What happened next?

The two had a conversation about Nine Perfect Strangers in Interview magazine in May 2025, where they discussed their relationship at length. Baranski called King Princess a “wildly talented young woman who’s so opinionated, deeply funny and witty.” She also noted, “We’ve curiously bonded and wanted to remain friends,” to which King Princess said, “Well, be careful, Christine, because people will talk.” Spicy! Baranski also described the first time they hung out: “Our first date — let’s give them something to talk about — we actually got dressed up and finally had dinner,” she said. “I remember we went to this chic, French-y watering hole. We sat at the bar, ordered our martinis, and suddenly we’re talking about our grandmothers who deeply affected and influenced our lives.” Baranski ended the conversation by saying, “I can’t wait for the decades ahead. I’m going to learn so much from you, and I’ll teach you whatever good stuff that I know.”

So are King Princess and Christine Baranski dating?

On a literal level, they are going on dates. They went to Sarah Snook’s drag-king-esque The Picture of Dorian Gray together on March 27 and Oh, Mary! on August 10. King Princess posted two photos to Instagram of her with Baranski on August 20. The two are very close physically and wearing clearly coordinated black-and-white outfits. The most important part, however, is that she captioned the post “#loveislove,” which could either be cheeky and funny or … an admission! Hannah Einbinder reappeared to endorse the relationship and confuse the masses, reposting the photo to her Instagram Story and captioning, “Do I even have to say it?” You know … King Princess’s most-streamed song is “1950,” and Christine Baranski was born in 1952. Something’s there!
