Browns swipe Massillon product from Patriots to replace injured Dawand Jones

The Cleveland Browns lost gigantic offensive tackle Dawand Jones to a season-ending injury on Sunday.
They’re doing what they can to replace him.
In the NFL, a team can sign a player to its active roster off another team’s practice squad, and that’s the mechanism the Browns used on Wednesday.
They’ve announced the signing of Thayer Munford Jr. off the practice squad of the New England Patriots.
Munford finished his high school career at the storied Massillon High School in northeast Ohio. He originally grew up in Cincinnati, where he first played at LaSalle.
After Massillon, Munford went to Ohio State.

He was a seventh-round pick of the Las Vegas Raiders in the 2022 NFL Draft.
Munford played in 46 games across three seasons with the Raiders, including 18 starts. He only joined the Pats this offseason.
The 6-foot-5, 354-pound Munford just turned 26 earlier in September. It seems like there’s still some possible upside here.
The Browns don’t necessarily need Munford to start right away, but with the potential for more injuries at any moment along the offensive line, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Munford out on the field sooner rather than later.
He’ll certainly have a lot of local fans keeping an eye on him and rooting for him.
