Denver Broncos quarterback Bo Nix fully embraced the city this offseason.
Last spring, Nix was focusing on preparing for the NFL draft. Last summer, he was focused on an upcoming quarterback competition. Going into the fall, he was named the starter and lever looked back.
This offseason, Nix was finally able to take a breather now that he’s the established QB1. He toured the city’s sports teams, watching the Denver Nuggets in the playoffs, getting mic’d up at a Colorado Avalanche game, and throwing out the first pitch at a Colorado Rockies game (it was a strike).
“We finally had time this offseason to experience what Denver has to offer,” Nix said last week. “It’s a great city. My wife and I love being here, love to call it home. [We] always love being back when we’re off somewhere else, getting to come back home. So that’s just what it feels like. It’s starting to feel more and more like home, and we’re making this our place.
“With that, I don’t want to just sit at the house all day. I want to get out and about and go enjoy what Denver has to offer. We have a great sports culture. We have great teams, great experiences other places, too. We just enjoyed hanging out with the guys that were here this offseason training. Denver’s a great spot. I’m very fortunate to be here.”
Nix, 25, is coming off an impressive rookie season, and he’s looked good at camp as he prepares for Year 2 in the NFL. He is the face of the franchise. If he continues his current trajectory, Nix could soon become the face of the city.
