Bengals rookie Shemar Stewart avoids major injury, timeline update

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow, believe it or not, wasn’t the only player to suffer an injury during Sunday’s win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Bengals first-round rookie Shemar Stewart suffered an injury too, needing the help of trainers to leave the field in the fourth quarter.

According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, Stewart “is believed to have avoided anything major.”

The report goes on to note that Stewart is now considered a “week-to-week” status in the aftermath of the lower-body injury that had him on crutches in the locker room after the game.

On a day of horrific injury news for the Bengals, Stewart escaping something much more serious is a small silver lining. He’s enjoyed a big role at various spots in Al Golden’s defense so far and the unit will miss him, provided he misses games.
