The NCAA Super Regionals get underway Friday, and the Auburn Tigers are looking to make history.
Auburn, the No. 4 national seed, hosts No. 13 seed Coastal Carolina for this weekend’s three-game winner-take-all super regional round for what will be the first time ever in program history. The Tigers secured the host bid by sweeping its competition last weekend in the Auburn Regional at Plainsman Park. Auburn will face a challenge in Coastal Carolina, who has won 21 straight games and 51 games total, but head coach Butch Thompson believes his team will find success this weekend just as long as it remains consistent.
“I don’t want us to change,” Thompson said Thursday. “We have an identity. This is who we are. I would take the consistency with which we played last week and do that again. That’s what we’re trying to reach.”
