Q: So Kevin Durant is gone in Phoenix and nobody is hiding from that. We know the Heat are going to bid. Ira, what should they bid? – Stephen.
A: Because a package of Terry Rozier and Duncan Robinson plus picks does not work under the cap (and likely is not nearly enough to entice), I would go with an offer of Andrew Wiggins, Rozier and both of the Heat’s first-round picks, if there are two, in this June’s draft. As a sweetener, need be, would toss in Nikola Jovic, as well. Based on what else is out there, it likely wouldn’t be enough, unless the Suns work with Kevin Durant for him to land at a destination of his choice and with a player of his choice (Bam Adebayo).

Q: Heat win two; Warriors lose two. Don’t care what happens after that. Perfect ending. – Andrew, Coral Gables
A: But the question then would be whether the Heat would provide Jimmy Butler tickets if he wants to return to Kaseya Center to watch playoffs. While the Warriors and Jimmy are in the play-in round, and while their Tuesday opener will be a challenge against the Grizzlies, I can’t see them losing, if an extra game is needed for Golden State, to the winner of Kings-Mavericks. So, yes, Jimmy should be back in the playoffs for the first time in two seasons (he was sidelined with the Heat last year). As for the Heat’s chances? It’s going to be another major challenge in a season of major challenges.
Q: Granted, starters were out, but again? Why can’t this team hold a four-point lead with 8.5 seconds left? This was straight out of the Bizarro world. – Roy, Miami.
A: And yet an apropos way to end the regular season for a team that regularly disappeared at closing time. But considering Sunday’s loss to the Wizards carried all the heft of an exhibition, I doubt there will be any lingering thoughts come Wednesday.
