Six nationally ranked teams lost in Week 5, creating another substantial shift in the college football landscape. The Oregon Ducks tempered the crowd in Happy Valley, headlining with one of the most impressive wins of the week over Penn State. At the same time, Alabama added another layer of unknowns in the SEC, handing Georgia its first loss of the season.
Upsets and close calls also played a part in the pandemonium, too, with BYU hanging on to beat Colorado while Illinois survived a wild one against USC. Florida State now has another infamous scoreline against Virginia, which opened the door for the Cavaliers.
