Are you worried about all the bosses in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers? Make no mistake: This soulslike game is tough, and several encounters are bound to test your patience and skill. Our guide has all the tips that you need to succeed, but be forewarned that there will be major spoilers ahead.
How to defeat all bosses in Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Our boss guide is organized based on each region. We start out with the fiends located in Worship’s Rise, followed by those in the Cloudspire and Mt. Zhenwu zones. There are definitely more, though we don’t want to spoil all the details this early.
Before we continue, we encourage you to check the following guides that should help improve your offensive capabilities and survivability in combat:
Best weaponsBest spellsBest Jade PendantsManna Vase upgradesAll armors and outfitsHow to summon companions
Note: Some companions can only be summoned during specific boss fights if you manage to complete their quest arc.
Bai Kru
Location: Reverent Temple (Worship’s Rise) – Talk to the Boatman NPC at the courtyard.Potential summon: N/ATip: Similar to other soulslike games, this Wuchang: Fallen Feathers boss serves as your tutorial gut check. This creature leaps around and pounces on you repeatedly, making you feel almost helpless. But, if you can dodge and attack its flanks, while watching out for its blows, you should be able to whittle down its health bar eventually.Rewards: 5x Red Mercury Essence
Tang Palace Maid
Location: Buddha Cliffs (Worship’s Rise) – Go through the cavern after obtaining your first spell.Potential summon: N/ATip: Calling this a “boss” would be an insult to other foes. It’s an easy fight, and you can even “cheese” it if you want. Just stay on top of a higher ledge, then drop down and do a plunging attack. Lather, rinse, and repeat until this foe is down and out.Rewards: Benediction: Bu – Skyborn Ward
Master Raider – Man-Eating Dhutanga
Location: Lightzen Temple (Worship’s Rise) – Enter the double doors past the courtyard with the fast travel point.Potential summon: N/ATip: Funnily enough, the best way to beat this boss is by using an axe-type weapon–i.e. Halberd. You can do three heavy strikes to interrupt his attack animation, then back away when he casts his own ability. You can move in for another three-hit sequence when the coast is clear.Rewards: Progression: Lightzen KeyTemper: Bone Needle – Flame (unlocks the Temper mechanic in Shrines)Tao Qing item: Copper JugSpell: Echo of Dhutanga
Gluttonous Monstrosity – Lu Hongliu
Location: Narrow Stretch/Shu Sanctum (Worship’s Rise) – Traverse the rooftops in the ruined village near Shu Sanctum. Just past the plaza, you should see stone steps covered in blood. Enter the courtyard gate and be ready for a fight.Potential summon: N/ATip: While this boss is huge, her moves are easy enough to telegraph. She’ll either lunge or leap toward you. Conversely, she’ll shoot a stream of blood that causes the Corruption affliction. The best thing to do is to wait for her to advance toward you, dodge, then perform a quick swing as she’s turning to face you. Note that her transition at 50% health also leaves her vulnerable, so keep wailing away at her at that point.Rewards: Tao Qing item: Jade CicadaQuest item: Trinity BellQuest item: White Jade DumplingSpell: Echo of Lu Hongliu
Feathered Priest – Lu Bingzhang
Location: Shu Sanctum (Worship’s Rise) – Inside the second-floor chamber of the temple.Potential summon: Nian SuichangTip: This particular Wuchang: Fallen Feathers boss fight is relatively relaxing that you could probably listen to a podcast while you’re at it. That is… if you summoned Nian Suichang. If you want to face this priest on your own, then you have to contend with a near-constant barrage of Corruption-laden liquids and projectiles. The chamber itself is small and cramped, so maneuvering can be somewhat problematic, too.Rewards: Progression: Shu Sanctum KeyBenediction: Wei – Vitality FerocityTao Qing item: Priest’s Broken CaneQuest item: Mercurial BloodSpell: Echo of Lu Bingzhang
Blightweaver – Great Centipede
Location: Bandit Cave (Worship’s Rise) – Follow the sloping path off to the side until you see a large cavernous area beyond.Potential summon: N/ATip: This creature’s melee attacks can be deftly dodged without issues. However, you need to watch out for its tail and sides, which spew noxious Corruption gas. It even has a loud screech, and you have to mash a button so you can move your character again. When it burrows underground, don’t waste your stamina dodging uncontrollably. Instead, wait for the ground to glow, then dodge at the last second to evade the centipede as it emerges.Rewards: Weapon: Astral Blade (one-handed sword)Tao Qing item: Believer StatueQuest item: Taoist TokenSpell: Echo of the Great Centipede
Reborn Treant – Soulwood
Location: Lu Mansion (Worship’s Rise) – Found inside the large cavern at the end of the ravine.Potential summon: N/ATip: This Wuchang: Fallen Feathers boss has several abilities, including minion summons, homing projectiles, vacuum-like pulls, and frontal cone flame breaths. The pool in front of it also causes the Despair status, which leads to instant death. But here’s the funny thing: It can actually be “cheesed.” Simply stand at the right-hand side of the cavern behind some rock pillars, which will block all projectiles and flame breaths. Then, as long as it’s not doing its vacuum pull ability, pop out and cast a homing spell–i.e. Burning Flames. Keep at it until it’s defeated.Rewards: Tao Qing item: All-Tree Jade CylinderSpell: Echo of Soulwood
Tang Palace Maid
Location: Palace Hill (Worship’s Rise) – Found inside the main building in Tang Palace.Potential summon: N/ATip: Any axe-type weapon works wonders against this boss. The axe’s heavy swings should cause this foe to flinch, leading to a stagger once her poise has been broken.Rewards: Armor: Palace Maid setChest: Manna Vase upgradeProgression: Hall of Music KeyMaterial: Brilliant Red Feather
Commander – Honglan
Location: Palace Hill (Worship’s Rise) – Use the Buddha Statue on the mechanism to drain the water. Then, head back down the large courtyard in the palace grounds.Potential summon: N/ATip: All other foes you’ve faced so far pale in comparison to Honglan. This Wuchang: Fallen Feathers boss is akin to a skill check, so you have to be on your toes when fighting her. If you want to play more aggressively, use an axe so you can “Clash” weapons just as her own strikes connect. If you have the upgraded version of the Rampage discipline, then the move will also toss her high up into the air and knock her down, allowing you to follow up with more blows.Another option is to use weapons that have the “Deflect” trait, such as longswords. The idea is to deflect, parry, and counter her every move. Think of it as though you’re playing Sekiro instead.Rewards: Progression: Reverent Temple KeyBenediction: Wei – Combo Force
General of the North – Ai Nengqi
Location: Rebel Camp (Cloudspire) – Pick up the Rebel Camp Key from the soldier near the Shrine. Then, use it to open the large gate just past the mines.Potential summon: N/ATip: What makes Ai Nengqi dangerous is that he uses three elements and their respective status effects–i.e. Ice (Frostbite), Thunder (Paralysis), and Fire (Burn). His abilities are more predictable if he’s farther away, as he mostly just shoots you with lightning-charged arrows. His moveset tends to be a bit erratic if he’s in melee range.Rewards: Weapon: Flamebringer (longsword)Tao Qing item: Seven-Treasure RosaryQuest item: White Jade DumplingSpell: Echo of Ai Nengqi
Ming General – Liu Cheng’en
Location: Snowpeak Pass (Cloudspire) – After beating Ai Nengqi, the drawbridge leading to the fortress should be lowered. Go across and be ready for another bout.Potential summon: N/ATip: Liu Cheng’en can pose a problem because almost all of his attacks rapidly cause Frostbite buildup. Since it halves your maximum stamina for several seconds, you’re going to have a tough time dodging or chaining your strikes. He also surrounds himself in a mini-blizzard of sorts, which can mess with your lock-on targeting.Rewards: Tao Qing item: Wooden StripSpell: Echo of Liu Cheng’en
Mistress of the Night – Huang Yan
Location: Treasure Trove (Cloudspire) – From the Snowfall Palace fast travel point, enter the door at the back-right section and ride the elevator to the lower floor.Potential summon: N/ATip: This Wuchang: Fallen Feathers boss is a spellcaster, often using two effects: Frostbite and Corruption. The latter is, naturally, a more pressing concern since it depletes your health. Funnily enough, she’s also weak against the Corruption debuff. It’s up to you if you want to fight her in melee (as long as you have Bone Needle – Corruption as a temperance effect), or if you prefer to cast spells from afar.Rewards: Tao Qing item: Shell CupQuest item: Research Journal – Scrap 1Spell: Echo of Huang Yan
Perfect Bride and Chimera – Fang Ling
Location: Wedding Hall (Cloudspire) – Upon exiting the tunnels in the Shaft area, you’ll see a bridge with a creature kneeling at the opposite side. As you walk to the middle of the bridge, it will collapse, sending you down the pit where this macabre monstrosity awaits.Potential summon: N/ATip: The Fang Ling boss battle has two phases: The first phase is somewhat similar to your bout against Honglan from Tang Palace. You’re fighting a human-sized opponent who’s wielding regular weapons. That means you can rely on Clash or Deflect mechanics to power through or parry her blows. The second phase is when things get interesting, since Fang Ling will transform into a Chimera. This creature attacks more aggressively, so you’ll mostly dodge while waiting for an opening. You can either build up your Skyborn Might for a devastating weapon skill or a longer spellcast when the opportunity presents itself.Rewards: Function: Jade Ancient ChiselWeapon: Bitter Severance (dual blades)Tao Qing item: Shu Silk FanSpell: Echo of Fang Ling
Bo Sorcerer
Location: Avian Dwelling (Mt. Zhenwu) – Follow the winding path from the swamps all the way to the treetops, all while creating shortcuts to the Shrines that you’ve already tagged. The topmost pathway eventually leads you to the boss’ lair.Potential summon: White-Robed Elder.Tip: Okay, we have to admit, but this Wuchang: Fallen Feathers boss fight is downright frustrating without the help of the White-Robed Elder as a companion. That’s because the Bo Sorcerer has a plethora of blindingly fast moves, from rushes that close the gap and golden projectiles that track you, to water blasts, water tornadoes, and surprising grab maneuvers. And, of course, she does half a dozen swings as part of her own combo sequence, parts of which have delays that mess up your timing.Rewards: Tao Qing item: Copper DrumSpell: Echo of the Bo Sorcerer
South General – Liu Wenxiu
Location: Zhenwu Antechamber (Mt. Zhenwu) – Follow the streets along the back-right area leading to the opposite yard.Potential summon: N/ATip: The South General boss encounter probably won’t frustrate you too much, at least on the same level as the Bo Sorcerer. This foe primarily uses Thunder (Paralysis) attacks, which can be deftly dodged with proper timing. He also shoots you with his gun if you’re too far away. This can cause your character to flinch and leave you vulnerable if you’re trying to close the distance.Rewards: Progression: Zhenwu Temple KeyWeapon: Thunder’s Call (dual blades)Armor: South General setQuest item: Secret Missive
Fierce Tiger and Sovereign – Zhang Xianzhong
Location: Zhenwu Altar (Mt. Zhenwu) – The blood-filled arena is just beyond the Zhenwu Altar Shrine.Potential summon: Huang Jian’eTip: This Wuchang: Fallen Feathers boss encounter has two phases. If you’ve completed Huang Jian’e’s quest chain, then she’ll offer invaluable help for this bout: During the first phase, you’ll be up against the Fierce Tiger. You need to watch out for its claw pounces, since you can get repeatedly hit as you’re trying to get back up. It also calls on a thunder strike on its vicinity–i.e. the “tell” is when several bolts of lightning start surrounding the creature. For the second phase, Zhang Xiangzhong will mount the reanimated tiger. This foe is highly mobile, and he will continue to cast thunder strikes, electric beams, and energy orbs. The one ability you have to watch out for is when he electrocutes the ground as he’s hopping in mid-air. If you’re locked-on, you might accidentally walk into the electrocuted areas, which deal damage and cause Paralysis buildup.Rewards: Manna Vase upgrade: Aurum Ancient ChiselTao Qing item: Tortoise IngotSpell: Echo of Zhang Xianzhong
Monstrous Toddler – Bai Kru
Location: Bai Mansion (Mt. Zhenwu) – You can access this location if you go past Zhenwu Altar. Don’t accept the proposal from a certain NPC that you meet in front of a cave. In any case, you can learn more in our Bai Mansion guide.Potential summon: He YouzaiTip: Yes, the boss from the tutorial is back with a vengeance. This Bai Kru encounter is more or less about avoidance. It repeatedly leaps into the air, so dodge it. The hooks at the back of its wings can hit you, so watch out even if you’re attacking from the sides. And, yes, it screeches often that you’re likely to get stunned if you’re too close. If you can summon He Youzai, then you could hit the boss several times in melee. If you’re going solo, then it’s best to rely on spells–i.e. Dodge a few times, build up your Skyborn Might, cast a quick homing spell, lather, rinse, and repeat.Rewards: Tao Qing item: Ivory SealQuest item: Research Journal – Scrap 2Spell: Echo of Bai Kru
