From the moment Vítor “Vitinha” Machado Ferreira first stepped onto the Parc des Princes turf, it was clear PSG had signed more than a midfielder. Vitinha is well known to be a player who’s everywhere on the pitch. He can play in every area of the field – between the two defenders, in the midfield and even finalizing the plays sometimes.
Vitinha Early Life and Porto FC
Vítor Machado Ferreira, better known as Vitinha, was born in Vila das Aves, Portugal, in 2000. He came through FC Porto’s academy after joining at age 11 and quickly stood out for his vision and close control. His father, Vítor Manuel, was also a professional footballer, and football was part of daily life at home.
He broke into Porto B with eight goals in 14 matches and earned his first-team debut soon after. A loan to Wolverhampton in the 2020–21 season gave him his first taste of top-flight football abroad, but opportunities were limited. He returned to Porto and helped the club win the domestic double in 2021–22, earning league honors as the Best Young Player.
The transfer to PSG and the transition to the new team
In June 2022, Paris Saint-Germain activated his €40 million release clause. At first, he flew under the radar in a squad that included Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé. But under Luis Enrique, Vitinha’s role grew. He became a starter, later vice-captain, and by 2025 he was PSG’s midfield cornerstone.
That season—his breakout—he played 45 matches, scored nine goals, added five assists, and helped PSG win the Champions League, Ligue 1, and Coupe de France. He was named to the Team of the Season in both Ligue 1 and UEFA Champions League, and his performance in the Champions League final, where he assisted the opening goal, earned him praise across Europe.

Vitinha’s game style
His game is built on movement, tempo, and ball retention. In 2024–25, he completed more passes than any player in the Champions League and covered more ground than nearly any midfielder in Europe. Luis Enrique called him “the most complete midfielder in the game today.”
Vitinha has 29 caps for Portugal and lifted the Nations League trophy in 2025. With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, he’s expected to be a central figure for both club and country. Not flashy, not loud—but always essential.
Wife and daughter
PSG extended his contract to 2029, doubling his salary. He now earns around $12.7 million per year, according to Capology, and his market value has climbed to $90 million. Off the pitch, he lives quietly with his wife, Tatiana Torres, and their daughters, Mafalda and Madalena.
