IMD warns of heavy rain in landslide-hit Wayanad

The India Meteorological Department issued heavy rainfall warnings for parts of Kerala and Lakshadweep. Wayanad district, previously hit by deadly landslides, is under ‘orange’ alert. Scientists cited climate change, intense rainfall, forest cover loss, and mining as factors behind the landslides. IMD had issued alerts prior to the extreme weather event on July 30 in Wayanad.
