We’ve still got a few weeks to go until the long-awaited Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream release lands on April 16, but a new free demo from Nintendo means players can enjoy the cozy yet chaotic gem early – and boy, are they prepared to do just that.
The Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream demo seemingly dropped right out of the blue earlier today, and the community is handling it… well, exactly as you’d expect it to.
As one person on Reddit puts it, “Someone just told me it’s out; we went FERAL, we’re so hyped.” They explain that they’re trying to hold back and not play it so that the full launch comes entirely as a surprise, but that’s far easier said than done. I would, ahem, know.
Others aren’t practicing any self-control, however. “THIS IS NOT A DRILL,” a fan exclaims in a separate thread. “TOMODACHI LIFE LTD DEMO ON THE ESHOP!!!” Attached is an image showing the Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream demo downloading on their Switch.

Elsewhere, another person asks, bewildered, “A DEMO??!!” A commenter jokes, “Because Animal Crossing update and Pokopia wasn’t enough.” We cozy gamers are certainly eating good, y’all.
I personally can’t wait to see what creative Tomodachi Life masterminds come up with – I’m reminded of the abundance of customization in similar titles like Miitopia, as well as the wild creations that came out of it.
Coupled with the island-building component of Living the Dream, overseeing Miis is sure to be quite the wild ride… and I’m so ready. Thankfully, all of our data from the demo will transfer over to the full game, too.
Not only that, but we can make up to three Miis and even score a bonus hamster costume at the end of the demo, which is accessed via Nintendo on either a Switch 2 or its predecessor. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some Mii drama to tend to.
