Hyderabad: Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy on Saturday dared the Congress government in the State to order a probe into irregularities committed in payment of bills in Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) during the previous BRS regime.

“If the Congress government is sincere then it should immediately order a comprehensive probe,” he said. Speaking to media persons, he said a letter would be written to Telangana government on behalf of the Central government requesting to order a probe into irregularities and other wrongdoings committed by the BRS government.

Referring to false information that the Centre would privatize SCCL, he urged the employees not to believe in such information and added that the NDA government was taking necessary steps for the welfare of SCCL and its employees.

Stating that the Centre would strive to protect the interests of workers, he alleged that the BRS government, Ministers and MLAs looted the SCCL and weakened it financially. He accused the former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar of using SCCL for his political gains, ignoring the interests of employees who are dependent on it.

After BRS came to power, the political interference into the affairs of SCCL increased and right from a sarpanche to MLAs and Ministers looted it. Such was the sorry state of affairs that a circular was also issued to ensure that protocol must be followed in SCCL.

Kishan Reddy said as many as Rs.30,000 crore dues were pending from various agencies to SCCL and TSGenco alone has to pay Rs.8,056 crore. Before 2014, the SCCL used to have surplus funds but it was now having only loans.

Referring to auction of coal blocks, Kishan Reddy said the Ministry of Coal was carrying out the auction process in a transparent manner duly adhering to the court directions.
