It’s official: the Chainsaw Man manga is coming to an end – and its final chapter is due to drop sooner than you think.
Following a curious tweet from franchise creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, which looked to suggest that the written material would be concluding in March, Viz Media has confirmed that the chapter publishing on March 25 will be the action-fantasy series’ last. “The Shonen Jump team have confirmed Chainsaw Man is ending but details are yet to be confirmed,” a representative said in a statement (per Gizmodo).
Having debuted in December 2018, Chainsaw Man follows Denji, a down-on-his-luck teenager, whose body is fused with that of a devil dog named Pochita after the latter saves his life. With that, he becomes a chainsaw-wielding hybrid and eventually goes on to fight supernatural creatures as a member of the Public Safety Devil Hunters. The manga’s Part 2 focuses more heavily on high school student Asa Mitaka, who strikes up a deal with underworld-dweller Yoru, and embarks on a revenge plot against the titular character.

Over the years, it has spawned a widely acclaimed anime (it’s scored 97% on Rotten Tomatoes) and hit feature-length outing Chainsaw Man – The Movie: Reze Arc, which pulled in a decent $174.2 million at the global box office. An anime adaptation of the Assassins Arc is reportedly still in the works.
After news of the manga’s imminent end broke, fans flocked to social media to share their thoughts, with one fan saying: “I spent a day crying… now that I’m better and thought things through with a level head… I think it might not be such a bad idea that Chainsaw Man is ending, assuming this is like the end to the series and we won’t get a part 3. I think I understand it now.”
“If Chainsaw Man is really ending and there isn’t a Part 3, it would’ve been wildly abrupt,” tweeted another less-forgiving reader. “Pochita is gone, but I feel like he’d want Denji to learn how to be happy while still being able to have an actual good life. I feel like there’s a lot to tell there.”
