Hyderabad: Telangana police on Wednesday arrested Kaleshwaram police station Sub-Inspector (SI) Bhavani Sen Goud for raping a woman constable by threatening her with his service revolver.
Sen was posted at Kaleshwaram police station when a major reshuffle was carried out after completion of Assembly elections in November 2023 and since then he was working at the police station. Goud’s heinous crime came to light when the constable lodged a complaint with the higher officials.
The higher officials then instructed the Kaleshwaram police station staff to book a case against Goud after which he was arrested. Following the arrest of a Sub-Inspector for sexually assaulting a constable, the police department, which is always at the receiving end for highhandedness of several police personnel towards the people, drew sharp criticism.
After arresting Goud, the department seized the weapon from his possession.
