Kansas City Chiefs DB Bryan Cook reflects on his first postseason loss in Super Bowl LIX

Kansas City Chiefs defensive back Bryan Cook addressed a pool of reporters after practice on Wednesday at Missouri Western State University in St. Joseph. He reflected on enduring his first career postseason loss in Super Bowl LIX.

“We took a heartbreaking loss, but at the same time we looked up and we didn’t realize we accomplished history too for the most franchise wins.” said Cook, “It is just understanding what the ultimate goal is and why we do this and why we come to training camp and why we wake up at certain times of the day and are always putting things into our body as far as replenishing and things like that. It’s all for that bigger goal, and for us to come short was unfortunate, but you look at the bright side. I went to three-straight (Super Bowls) in three years in the league, so that is all I know. For my first postseason loss to be the Super Bowl, I mean I will take that any day of the week.”

The loss to the Philadelphia Eagles was disappointing, but Cook had a special moment early in the first half. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a pass that was intercepted by Cook, which gave Kansas City a chance to make a comeback.

Cook expects to take a larger role this season following the departure of veteran safety Justin Reid.
