The Boston Red Sox didn’t wait for the Major League Baseball July trade deadline to start moving off players.

Last month, Boston sent slugger Rafael Devers to the San Francisco Giants, and that might not be the only trade the team makes this summer.

With the Red Sox sitting with a 43-45 record, the team could be selling off pieces at the end of the month.

If the Red Sox are willing to trade players away, Steve Silverman from ClutchPoints thinks the team should move on from outfielder Jarren Duran.

“They could enhance their team by making trades that would upgrade their inconsistent offense and shoddy defense. They could also improve their starting pitching with the right move,” Silverman wrote. “Perhaps the best move general manager Craig Breslow could make would be a trade involving last year’s All-Star Game Most Valuable Player Jarren Duran. He is their most dynamic and explosive athlete, but Duran has not come close to producing at anywhere near the level that he did last season.”

Duran, the 2024 All-Star MVP, still has three years of control after this season, so moving off of him would be getting rid of a cheap player the team could have until the fall of 2028.
