Vote for Louisville-area high school baseball player of the year before polls close

There were plenty of standout performances from Louisville-area athletes throughout the prep baseball season.

Voting is underway for The Courier Journal’s baseball player of the year. The poll closes at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 25, and the winner will be announced Thursday, June 26.

Here are the nominees:

 Brayden Bruner, Pleasure Ridge Park

Senior Brayden Bruner was a key contributor to Pleasure Ridge Park’s Sixth Region title and run in the 2025 Clark’s Pump-N-Shop Baseball State Tournament. Bruner, a Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association first-team All-State selection, hit .420 (30 for 71) with 35 RBIs and stole 31 bases.

Brodie Benefield, St. Xavier

In 46 ⅔ innings pitched, junior Brodie Benefield, a Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association first-team All-State selection, went 6-1 and recorded a 0.45 ERA with 45 strikeouts.

Gray Davis, Trinity

Sophomore Gray Davis pitched the most innings (63 ⅔) for the Shamrocks in their championship season. Davis, a Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association second-team All-State selection, tallied 11 wins and one save with 73 strikeouts.

Carson Shee, Eastern

Senior Carson Shee, who had 28 RBIs, led the Eagles with a .446 (41 for 92) batting average. He was a Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association first-team All-State selection.

Jordan Powell, Bullitt Central

Senior Jordan Powell led the Cougars on the mound and at the plate. In 46 ⅔ innings pitched, Powell, a Kentucky High School Baseball Coaches Association first-team All-State selection, went 6-3 with a 1.20 ERA and struck out 73. He finished with a .392 (38 for 97) batting average, 16 doubles and 30 RBIs.
