The Washington Commanders will make selections and build the future of the team in the NFL draft, but they will also be active in signing undrafted free agents when the seventh round concludes. Here’s a look at some priority free agents to keep an eye on that might not be drafted, and could make the roster this season for the Commanders.
Roc Taylor, WR, Memphis
Roc Taylor is a wide receiver that Washington has shown a lot of interest in, and his playing style and size are really intriguing to scouts. The former Memphis Tiger measured in at 6-foot-2 and 215 pounds, but still ran a 4.49 40-yard dash. Taylor uses his bigger body to his advantage and racked up a 60% contested catch rate and 18 contested catches in 2024, which was the seventh most in the country. He produced big-time for the Tigers as he finished with just over 2,000 receiving yards and 135 catches in his last two seasons at Memphis. Roc Taylor can take a short pass to the house with his speed and tackle-breaking strength, but also has the ability to be a legit deep threat at the next level. Taylor tied for 10th in the country on deep catches with 14 in 2024, and 480 deep yards to go with it.
A few things I love about Memphis WR Roc Taylor:
– His subtle movements to set up DBs.
– Ball tracking

Gerad Christian-Lichtenhan, OT, Oregon State
Another player that Washington hosted on a top-30 visit was the high-upside offensive tackle Gerad Christian-Lichtenhan, and he could be a big-time steal after the draft if he isn’t selected. This isn’t the deepest offensive tackle draft, and a lot of tackles are being moved to guard, so finding a gem like Gerad could go a long way for tackle depth. Washington made some moves on the offensive line in the offseason, but still lacks true depth at both tackle positions for the future. Gerad measured in at a whopping 6-foot-8 and 329 pounds with 35.78″ arms, and has the build that a lot of prospects in the draft don’t have at the tackle position. The former Beaver played just about every snap of his experienced career at left tackle, and finished with an 86.4 pass blocking grade on PFF last season.
Ryan Fitzgerald, Kicker, Florida State
Drafting a kicker isn’t the most popular move to make, especially when you only hold five picks heading into the draft, so I’m hoping Washington waits to sign a kicker, especially if Ryan Fitzgerald is there. Washington worked out Fitzgerald and met with the prospect this offseason, and could very well add a kicker to the roster to compete for the starting spot at camp. Washington fans know that there’s been a major inconsistency at the position for years now, and going younger might be the best move. Ryan Fitzgerald was automatic last year at Florida State as he didn’t miss a single kick or extra point, including going five for five beyond 50 yards, and nailed a career-long 59-yarder. Washington could use Fitzgerald’s reliability after going 32 for 34 over the last two seasons.
Ryan Fitzgerald has now made field goals of 52 & 59 Yards👀

Nazir Stackhouse, DT, Georgia
Stackhouse is a physically gifted defensive tackle just like many others who come out of Georgia, and he has some upside to him that I’d like to see develop at the next level. Stackhouse measured in at 6-foot-4 and 327 pounds, and uses that size to bull rush through offensive linemen. The former Bulldog is a certified run-stopper in the middle of the defensive line and finished with an 83.1 run-stopping grade on PFF in 2024. Nazier didn’t have the best pass-rushing production in college, but I think more could be there with NFL coaching. You’re still at worst getting a really solid run-stopper who can make a crazy play occasionally, like an interception at the line, or blocking a field goal.
That’s a 6-foot-3, 320-pound athlete. Nazir Stackhouse grabs a huge INT for Georgia. pic.twitter.com/34JXZhnpWg
