The No. 11 Auburn Tigers took two of three from Kentucky last weekend to win its second-straight SEC series to open conference play, matching its SEC weekend series win total from last season. Junior Ike Irish returned to the lineup last week after battling issues with a back injury and went on to hit .500 in the series with two home runs and two RBI. He recorded five hits in Auburn’s 11th inning win over the Wildcats on Saturday.
South Alabama slipped below the .500 mark last weekend after dropping two of three games to Louisiana in front of the home crowd. The Jaguars are on a skid by losing six of their last seven games, and hope to pull off an upset on Tuesday before traveling to Southern Mississippi this weekend for a crucial Sun Belt Conference series.
