The Texans rode their defense to a 32-12 win over the Chargers in the Wild Card Round. We break down what’s next for them in the Divisional Round of the 2025 NFL Playoffs.

Sunday 1 p.m. Wild Card update: The Texans will travel to face the Chiefs in the Divisional Round of the 2025 NFL Playoffs. Houston was hoping for some help in the other Wild Card Round matchups, but the higher seeded Bills and Ravens both won their matchups. Those two will face off in the other AFC Divisional Round game.

The Texans and Chiefs faced off in Week 16 of the 2024 season, with the Chiefs winning 27-19. They have two playoff matchups in their history, with the Texans losing both. The Chiefs won a 2020 Divisional matchup 51-31 and a 2016 Wild Card matchup 30-0.

Saturday 8 p.m. Wild Card update: The Ravens beat the Steelers 28-14 to join the Texans and Chiefs in the Divisional Round. If the Bills beat the Broncos, the Texans will travel to face the Chiefs in the Divisional Round. If the Broncos beat the Bills, the Texans will travel to face the Ravens.

The Houston Texans kicked off the 2025 NFL Playoffs with a 32-12 win over the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers took a 6-0 lead on a pair of field goals in the first quarter and looked like they were going to take control of things. Instead, it all went sideways in the second quarter and again in the second half. A pick-six and two more interceptions coupled with a defensive two point conversion propelled Houston to victory.

Since this was the first game of the playoffs, the fourth-seeded Texans will have to wait and see who they will play next week in the Divisional Round. If all the favorites win this weekend, the Texans will face the No. 1 seed Kansas City Chiefs. If we see at least one upset in either of the two remaining first round matchups, the Texans can avoid the Chiefs next week.

The No. Buffalo Bills host the No. 7 Denver Broncos while the No. 3 Baltimore Ravens host the No. 6 Pittsburgh Steelers. If the Bills win and Ravens lose, the Texans would face the Bills. If the Bills lose and the Ravens win, the Texans would face the Ravens. If both lose, the the Texans would face the Steelers.
