A target for Tennessee’s 2026 football recruiting class set a commitment date, according to Tom Loy of 247Sports.
Four-star defensive lineman Dereon Albert will decide between the Vols and North Carolina on July 1.
The 6-foot-2, 305-pound prospect is from Jackson Academy in Jackson, Mississippi. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 28 defensive lineman in 2026 and the No. 8 player in Mississippi.
Tennessee offered Albert a scholarship on Aug. 23, 2023. He officially visited Tennessee on June 13.
Liberty was the first school to offer him a scholarship. Other SEC schools to offer Albert a scholarship include Auburn, Missouri, Texas A&M, LSU, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Kentucky.
The Vols have nine commitments in their 2026 football recruiting class: quarterback Faizon Brandon, wide receiver Tyreek King, tight end Carson Sneed, offensive lineman Gabriel Osenda, linebacker Braylon Outlaw, defensive lineman C.J. Edwards, defensive lineman Zach Groves, safety K.J. McClain and safety Luke Thompson.
Linebacker JP Peace is Tennessee’s first 2027 football commitment.
