As many as 20 people have died from sunstroke in Odisha during a severe heatwave. About 99 suspected sunstroke deaths were reported in total by various districts. After investigation, 20 deaths were confirmed as sunstroke-related, while two were due to other causes. Officials are examining the remaining cases. The deaths occurred mainly in Bolangir, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Sonepur, Sundergarh, and Balasore districts. Authorities are urging precautions and thorough examinations for suspected sunstroke deaths.
