Tottenham clinched a narrow 1-0 victory over bitter rivals Arsenal in a pre-season friendly on Thursday.
Scorers: Sarr 45′
The North London clubs battled it out at Kai Tak Sports Park as preparations for the upcoming campaign ramped up.
Thomas Frank’s side very nearly took the lead inside the opening 10 minutes, but Pedro Porro’s corner hit the far post and Richarlison couldn’t convert the rebound.
Wilson Odobert then became the second Spurs player to hit the post before half-time as he attempted to find the far corner.
Moments before the break, Pape Matar Sarr finally put Spurs ahead with an outrageous effort from the halfway line.Â
Arsenal lost the ball in midfield and the 22-year-old picked up the loose ball before spotting David Raya off his line and unleashing an effort from range.
Viktor Gyökeres did come on for his Arsenal debut with a little over 10 minutes left to play in the second-half as he replaced Kai Havertz, but the Swede wasn’t able to impact the game in the closing stages.
