After scoring on the opening day of the LaLiga season against Espanyol, JuliƔn Alvarez struggled to hit his usual high standards this season.
Despite some patchy recent form, the Argentina international ended his six-game goal drought for club and country with a fantastic volley to open the scoring against Rayo Vallecano.
The first-time finish also brought up a landmark goal for AtlĆ©tico de Madrid’s star striker.Ā
